There is something truly special about welcoming a new family to our community. Moving to a new area comes with so many big transitions—finding new favorite local spots, settling into neighborhoods, and, of course, searching for a go-to family photographer to capture life's growing moments.
As a top Ellicott City Photographer, we were so honored when this wonderful family reached out after their recent move to Howard County. Capturing a family of seven is always a joy, and this session was an absolute dream from start to finish!
A Summer Evening at the Howard County Conservancy
We selected the Howard County Conservancy for their session, which remains one of our absolute favorite outdoor locations in the area. Sprawling rolling hills, historic wooden barns, open fields, and walking trails offer a timeless backdrop for family portraits.
Mother Nature truly delivered for us on this summer evening. The sky painted a magnificent tapestry of warm golden light, soft pinks, and deep amber hues as the sun dipped toward the horizon.
Capturing Big Personalities & Genuine Connections
Photographing five kids ranging in age from 8 to 16 is such a dynamic experience! At these ages, every child brings their own unique personality, style, and humor to the session.
We focused on a mix of classic posed portraits where everyone is smiling at the camera, alongside candid moments that highlight their true family dynamic:
The Full Family Portrait: Getting all seven family members framed perfectly against the dramatic summer sky.
Sibling Groupings: Capturing the bonds between the brothers and sisters—lots of real laughs, playful banter, and sweet moments.
Individual Portraits: Giving each child their moment to shine in front of the lens.
Mom & Dad: Ensuring the parents had a few quiet moments for portraits together—often a rarity when raising five active kids!
