Back to School Photography

Maryland Family Photographer

I recently had the pleasure of capturing a back to school family photography session for a local Howard County family at their child’s school. The family consisted of a mom, dad, and daughter, who was just starting preschool!

We decided to do the session at the school since she would be attending there soon! Glenelg Country School was very accommodating and allowed us access on the weekend. The little girl was so excited to be there and it allowed her to get more comfortable with her surroundings.

We started the session by taking some traditional family portraits in front of the school building and around the grounds. Then, we moved over to the playground and captured some candid shots of the entire family playing.

Their daughter was having so much fun that she didn't even realize I was taking pictures. She was just being herself, and I was able to capture some truly genuine and heartwarming moments.

No Howard County Family Photography session would be complete without a landscape family photo!

I'm so grateful to this family for letting me capture their Maryland family photography session. I know that they will cherish these photos for years to come.

I love helping new Howard county photographers succeed in their photography journey. Here Tips for Back to School Family Photography Sessions

  • Choose a location that is special to the family. It could be a child's school, a park where they like to play together, or even their own backyard.

  • Book the session early, especially if they’re planning to do it during the peak back to school season.

  • Help coordinate outfits for the family. They don't need to match perfectly, but it's nice to have a cohesive look.

  • Bring some props to the session, such as school supplies, backpacks, or even a chalkboard. This can help to add some personality to your photos.
